Daniel Brodie, Producer
Daniel Brodie is an experienced producer, having worked on both student-led and professional projects across the UK. Daniel is the current recipient of the Canadian Rhodes Scholars’ Foundation Scholarship, and is completing his MA in Jewish Studies at McGill University. Whilst studying for his undergraduate degree at Oxford University, Daniel produced ten shows in both Oxford and London, including productions of Look Back in Anger, Spring Awakening and A Few Good Men at the Oxford Playhouse. In 2008 he worked as the Assistant to the Chief Executive at New World Stages in New York and was the Director of the Oxford Jewish Centre’s Purim show. This is his first production in Montreal and is delighted to be working alongside the multi-talented Avia Moore to complete what promises to be a wonderful production.
Jacqueline Fay, Performer
Jacqueline Fay has been performing since childhood in various disciplines including music, theater, and dance. She began playing the cello at the age of 6, the same year in which she began regularly participating in local musical theater. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Victoria where she studied both cello performance and music history. During the last two years, Jacqueline has taken a rather unconventional approach to music making and arts education, studying only briefly at McGill University before deciding to embark on a personal journey of private study, cultural enrichment, and teaching. She spent last year in Israel learning Hebrew, studying cello (both modern and baroque), and volunteering at the Bialik-Rogozin School in South Tel Aviv. Jacqueline returned to Montreal in the fall and began to explore improvised music such as folk and klezmer. She plans to continue her studies next year at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Israel.
Sandi Hilton, Performer
After completing her BA in Drama at the University of Alberta, Sandi sojourned for two years teaching English in Japan, backpacking through Southeast Asia, and working in Australia. After returning to Canada she pursued advanced acting lessons with Elisabeth Ebbels in Edmonton, Alberta, and lead a collaborative creation theatre group in her community. Sandi is thrilled to be a part of the Dybbuk with Uncatalogued Productions in Montreal, and plans to pursue future acting opportunities in her community here.
Maya Jarvis, Designer
Maya is an emerging scenographer and designer for live performance. She graduated from the University of Alberta’s BFA Theatre Design program where she studied set, costume and light design. After visiting the Prague Quadrennial Scenographers Festival, Maya couchsurfed across Europe for nine months, absorbing the contemporary and traditional aesthetics of the cultures, and sub cultures, that she encountered.
Maya designed extensively with independent theatre companies in Edmonton before moving to Montreal. Since her relocation, Maya has had the privilege to assist under John Dinning for Harvey (Segal Centre, 2010) and design the set and costumes for Black Theatre Workshops’ The Dutchman.
Bronna Levy, Performer
Bronna Levy has been active in Montreal’s Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre since childhood where she has played principal roles in a wide range of dramatic and musical productions including Di Shvegerins (Les Belles Soeurs), Sheindele, Lies My Father Told Me, and God of Vengeance. Her most recent role was in The Wise Men of Chelm, the play she first appeared in at the age of ten doing cartwheels across the stage. Steeped in this rich tradition, Bronna has brought authentic and evocative interpretations of Yiddish song to audiences throughout Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto.
Manon Manavit, Stage Manager
Manon Manavit is currently studying Theatre in the BFA program at Concordia University, although she hails from Asheville, North Carolina, Rollingstone Magazine’s “New Freak Capital of the U.S.” She also attended Bard College in upstate New York where she majored in Directing for Theatre and studied with JoAnne Akalaitis, founder of Mabou Mines. Manon recently served as Assistant Director to Keith Turnbull on Concordia’s multi-media opera Darwin: Endless Forms Most Beautiful, directed two plays for the annual SIPA Theatre Festival, and will be doing dramaturgy for Concordia’s upcoming production of Joanna Baillie’s Witchcraft. Manon is an aspiring director who specializes in producing new work. She is very grateful for the opportunity to work for Avia and Daniel!
Avia Moore, Director
Avia Moore specializes in devised performance and collective creation, working with a deep understanding of cultural and performance theory. Avia completed her BA Honours in Drama at the University of Alberta, and her MA in Devised Theatre at Dartington College of Arts in Devon, England. At Darti
ngton College, an institution internationally recognized as a locus of contemporary arts practices, she focused on cultural memory and performance, developing new work from traditional source material. An active part of the international Jewish artistic community, Avia was a member of the artistic team of KlezKanada for the past five years. She has also worked with Jewish festivals and cultural organizations around the world, including The Ashkenaz Festival, Yiddish Summer Weimar, and The Jewish Community in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Avia is the founder of Uncatalogued Performances, an ensemble and production company dedicated to creating new works and promoting emerging artists.
Caitie Parsons, Performer
Caitie Parsons, born and raised in Montreal, is a graduate of Concordia University’s Theatre and Development Program. She has been involved in and passionate about theatre for over fifteen years. She has performed most recently in Tableau D’Hôte’s production of Humans, and in the one-woman bilingual performance The Second Coming of Joan of Arc/La Résurrection de Jeanne D’Arc, both directed by Liz Valdez.
Jacqueline van de Geer, Performer
Jacqueline van de Geer ( the Netherlands) worked in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and the Czech Republic as a performer as well as an acting coach.Her roots are in movement theatre and visual arts. She has both a master in theatre as in fine arts and installed herself in 2005 in Montreal. Here she creates, acts and directs. Some of her credits are: Lavet in Domestik ( Nervous hunter), Imposter 1 and Imposter 2 (Rob Lendrum, Toronto), Apnée (Nathalie Baroud) and D”V” a solo piece inspired by the life and times of Diane Vreeland. In february 2011 she performed in the Duras show at la Chapelle (Mobile Home). She is thrilled to be part of this exciting story!
